What the heck is that?
Infrastructure is the total of the physical things you need to maintain you homestead. Home, barn and the outbuildings, fences and water containment, garden , greenhouse, orchard.
I believe it is important to wait a little while before building on your property. Give yourselves time to learn how water flows, where the sun or shade is as it movs thru the seasons.
Build a plan . Dont be afraid to plan long term. Have a six month plan, a year long plan, a five year goal and a ten year goal. yes, life happen s, goals will change, but you will have a basic map to follow on what you hope to accomplish!
Plant fruit trees fairly soon , so they have time to mature…think of how your work pattern affects where you put outbuildings . Permaculture techniques teach Zones… just as the oldtimers built… the things you do daily need to be close…not close enough to smell the chicken litter, but close enough to be easy to do your work. then the next distance would be things you would maybe do weekly..etc. remember to create storage for building materials, walkways that are wide enough to enable you to move bulky items. . Try bringing a piano thru a 22 inch door? Lol!
If you plan ahead, it saves a tremendous amount of time and effort. Stay flexible because stuff happens. Illness, aging, funds disappear, disaster strikes… things do happen. But by having a plan, you can work around the bumps in the road.
Perhaps the best advice I can offer ,is this: Frame things that happen in the most positive way you can. When things go south, it is not a failure, it is a learning experience.
