Regenerative life in the Ozarks.

Renerative gardening , alternative building, homesteading groups , all w oak toward rebuilding our world.

We bought this property after falling in love with it. Basically untouched, never been logged, it is a rough boulder strewn piece of land from creek bottom to top of the bluff line! Rich in native plant colonies, it has a wealth of living water..including a year round creek and multiple springs.
Oak and Beech, with tons of understory trees and shrubs.
Backing on National Forest it’s like having a whole world as your playground!

Our view is that we are stewards of our land, and our goal is to protect and improve its viability .
Im a teacher at heart and love sharing my passion about all the interesting things we have going on. We have truly enjoyed our international volunteers over the years, from their amazing work ethics to the political conversations? Over the dinner table, lol!

The sense of community here in Newton County is so very important. Neighbors may not see each other for weeks, but should something happen , they are there, right off, to help out.
There is a high tolerance and acceptance for different ideas, so long as it comes respectfully. The roots of many natives here run deep and they have survived by ingenuity and skills, that sometimes aren’t valued by those raised in different ways. Those who move in and are successful have a true understanding of these skills and learn to value the knowledge inherent in life in the hills and hollows.

I feel that many of the old skills are being lost and one of our goals is to share what we know, in order to keep the continuity going. I know, I have a broad base of knowledge , from making split bottom chairs, to sorghum, maple syrup, quilting, creating and using a sapling lathe to turn the chair pieces. I learned to make shake shingles from one of the best!
but my hands are not working so we’ll these days…

it’s important to share these things! Tell the stories, share what you know. Keep our culture alive!
