One of the best parts of our life is the incredible volunteers that come through our doors. We have welcomes a number of folks from all over the world and thoroughly enjoyed meeting, teaching and adding them to our Herbhome Family. Many of them return and remain a big part of our lives. Our volunteer program allows helpers to come in and exchange working three hours day and chores for room and board and learning about our lifestyle. We teach, work and play hard.

Jeannie and Kara- Kara is a volunteer in Mozambique , helping families re-learn gardening skills after a racial war wiped out many of the elders who knew how to garden in thier environment.

Elliot stayed with us a long time at the old place. The grandkids were still very small while he was here and they would really tickle torture him – and Travis , his Zendic Friend.

Herbhome Farm-Passing it On 
Ive read almost all of your blog posts, and i feel like a stranger approaching you in the store.. i am now 21 years old as of may, ive lived my whole childhood outside but as of 6-7 years ago my family got super sucked into video games, which i’ve never been able to get into simply because i would rather be out with nature. ive always dreamed of living off grid in a little tree house lol now that i’m a bit older i realize it’s not that reasonable lol. ive recently been able to save up money so i’ve started my own garden and have been able to travel so i sacrificed two gas tanks (unfortunately choose to go when the price of gas has tripled…) to go up there i went to a places extremely close to you called nail. i honestly just zoomed into a random spot on the map with water (little buffalo river) and made it a point to get there. i thought it would be a 40 minute hike but it ended up turning into 6 hours and we didn’t even get there!! the real reason i wanted to go there is because i see exactly how the world is going down the drain and it absolutely terrifies me. i know how much food and resources it takes to feed my family of five and if the food runs out of the stores we would absolutely starve to death. so i tried to find a place we’re i could at least make a chicken coop structures and maybe a goat pen so we would have at least a small chance of survival. the spot i chose probably won’t work but i will find a way. ive been getting into homesteads for a few months but it’s not something that can be learned fast and without someone teaching you. if you would have me i would love to come help you and learn from you. you would be saving my life..:) my phone number is 4694380827
